It’s official, crunch time. I’ve got to get kicking on the Christmas presents. I’m almost done with Chewey and Han Solos… it’s just I’ve stalled a bit. I can’t figure how to do han’s hair and also working with fun fur for chewey isn’t the most pleasurable… (which i’ve mentioned before). Tonight we’re leaving to go to my Grandma’s. She’s in a nursing home so we’re going to stay at her home and then visit with her during the day. We’re also going to decorate her room for Christmas. The girls are really going to enjoy that as will my G-ma. I’m excited to get some non stop crafting time. (no interruptions) And the a bunch of family time. and just time away! My DH is looking forward to the time away and I don’t blame him.
I hope ya’ll have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

so tomorrow is turkey day. I’m kinda sorta looking forward to it. It will be fun. but it also means only a few more crafting days till Christmas. EEEKKK!!! i’ve been working on stuff for my nieces and nephews the past couple fo days. i’ve also started a hat for my daughter. It’s in steelers colors. Actually I’ll be making a hat for both girls, so they can share “spirit” with their dad. Plus i needed to do some mindless knitting and practice for some hats i’m going to make my Sister and her Fiance and maybe my brother… but that’s still being worked out.
anyways I made the cranberry salad for tomorrow. I’ll also be making some bread. Yummy. I actually made 4 loaves today but 2 I took and gave to my LYS owner and the other teacher there at the shop. when I came home from my class there was only one loaf left…. HMMM Fresh bread doesn’t last long in this house.
Have a good Turkey day tomorrow.

So this morning while I made myself a cappuccino I tried, as I always do, to make some coffee art. I was aiming for a heart. and I think it’s a pretty good try. it looks like a butt too. but it’s a heart. I always try and this time it actually looked like something. one day i will be good, well maybe not but i’m still going to try. LOL
I tell you what that cappuccino was AWESOME. i make a mean mocha. This time i bought Hershey’s dark chocolate syrup for it and it was yummo!
I’ve almost finished the Han Solo Ami that i’m working on. I just have to do his hair. and i’ve started on Chewey and may I say it.. I really really really really really REALLY don’t like fun fur. but it’s a needed yarn for projects like so. But if I could make it with out it, I would. gah that stuff is horrible. now that i’ve sold you on the stuff you should try it out. LOL I crack myself up.

I’ve always been a handmade holidays type of person. I love to get handmade gifts (b/c I KNOW hom much work goes into them) I also love to make things for people. there’s just something about pouring yourself into something that they will look at and think of you. Ok really i’m sure some people won’t even give the things I give a second glance but hey it’s the thought that counts right? anyways for my nephew i’m making him some Star Wars Amigurumi. I finished the Princess Leia ami and I’m working on the
Luke Skywalker ami now. (he’s still a WIP that’s for sure) The Leia one I had a hard time with the hair. I couldn’t get it right. as it is the hair is a little off but it still works.
right?
anyways, on Wednesday one of the ladies in my class gave me an Ipod. I am not kidding. She is so kind and generous and I am so blown away. I’ve been transferring all my CD’s to the Ipod the past couple of days. I’ve also been pondering how to stay thank you to this wonderful friend. I’ve been leaning toward a thank you note with some stitch markers inside. The ones I made a couple of weeks ago. i’m not sure if i’ll ever be able to say thank you enough. What do you think?

I went on a knitting retreat this weekend. We went to Autumn House Farms. They are wonderful there! The yarn they produce there is luscious and beautiful. You can see more photos of my weekend here . It’s beautiful out there and it’s only about an hour away from me. They are wonderfully talented there, here’s the website . I’m plotting ways to make my DH take me back there for a weekend to learn to spin and just have a great time away! We stayed in the Shepherd’s Rest B&B it’s a rustic one but very nice. after visiting there I have dreams of doing something similar. I loved every moment of it.

I finally finished the 2 stockings I’ve been working on. They’re made for a lady at my church. I washed them and dried them. Which is ok since they’re made with acrylic yarn. I had hoped it would soften them up a bit but it didn’t do it as much as I’d wanted. But once they’re used they should (I hope) soften more. Of course i’m nervous that the lady who asked me to make them will not like them or not want to pay what i’m asking… we’ll see tomorrow.
If you’re wanting to make a stocking but one that isn’t so involved as a color worked one. I wrote a pattern up last year for a toe up striped stocking (ravelry link) I’d love for you to buy the pattern and knit yourself a stocking. Here’s a quote from ravelry “This festive and lovely stocking will light up anyone’s fireplace. Use it as wrapping for your holiday gifts or let it be your gift. This pattern used bulky weight and is knit tightly for a sturdy fabric. No felting and no lining needed!” You can purchase it right through Ravelry and store it in your library.

I’m officially on the collar now! WHOO HOO! Now i’ve got to find 2 buttons to go with the sweater. I think that may be the hard part. I’ve been looking through the ravelry 741 projects trying to get ideas. I’ve found a few in my button collection but none that call out “USE ME!” so i’ll keep searching. I did find One button but it doesn’t have a match… hmmm. I’ll have search etsy too.
on another note my Strawbeary amigurumi (ravelry link) that I made (and uploaded the photos to flickr) got a comment from ElishabethD herself. (go ahead and look at the photo) I was so stoked she’s so talented and then commented on the ami I made (little old me) using her pattern. totally cool!

Gifted and well received too! I finished my Amgurumi doll. I packaged her up after taking a few (100) photos. This one is my fave. it’s like she’s pondering or on the phone or something like that. Fun fun. when she was opened Faith, the recipient, smiled and hugged her. I was worried. I like the amigurumi humaniod dolls but I wasn’t sure if kids would be as crazy about them as I was. But after Faith’s reaction and her younger brothers. I was convinced that it was a good gift. And since it’s took like 2 days to make I’m sure I can make more for christmas presents for the nieces and nephews without breaking a sweat. YIPPIE! I love making amigurumi.

So I’m working on a Birthday present for a friend’s little girl. I started the other day. I thought I would have more time to work on her gift so I was putting it off. Yes, that’s the procrastinator in me. But then I realized that the b-day party is this Sunday. (meaning my DH told me) I broke out my Amigurumi book by Elishabeth Doherty and started on the Strawbeary pattern . I love it. It’s soo fun to crochet. She’s made it super easy by breaking it down even to when you’re supposed to stuff. There are a few things I’ve changed, I didn’t do the eyebrows b/c I couldn’t get them to work right. so I skipped them. I’m not sure if I’ll be adding a strawberry button either only b/c this will be going to a young girl with younger siblings. I’ve also adjusted the skirt length. It was rather short so i’ve added a few layers of ruffles. which i saw another raveler doing. Gotta love ravelry! I’m rocking out to Christmas music right now. I’ve got to go finish the doll TTYL

So I’m on the foot of my stocking and as I laid it down to take a photo of it I realized it’s a tad big… UGH! so i’ve frogged it back and have picked up to “redo” it. Instead of just doing one color i’m going to stripe it some. I hope it won’t look so big as before. I’m kinda mad i didn’t notice it before b/c I was hoping to be done by now. The stockings are for a lady from my church. she requested them for her grandson and DIL. I started them a while ago and I’ve been kinda putting them off. But i’ve got to get them done. I’ve also been wanting to make an amigurumi doll for a friends daughter who’s birthday is coming up. but i’m not sure now if I’ll have time. Not to mention i’ve been distracted with reading a lot lately. There just isn’t enough time in the day. with that I’m off to knit!
