More baby items

Published by starknits under crafts, knitting Edit This

I’ve been neglecting this blog lately. But i have been busy. I’ve been knitting baby gifts. Here are some more that i’ve finished. Of course I knit my fall back baby pixy hat. (ravelry link) The yarn i’ve used for this one is bernat baby softee.  the yarn pooled a little funny but it still looks really cute. the colors are a bit brighter than it shows up in the photo.

I also whipped up some baby bibs. Using the Simple baby bib pattern (rav link) It uses about half a skein of peaches and creme cotton yarn. they knit up super fast so they’re the perfect baby gift.  Plus they give me something to make with all the cotton yarn i’ve got stashed. Not to mention  I get to go through all my buttons and find one to match the yarn. So much fun.

I had a lady tell me that her daughter really appreciated that she knit them baby bibs with big buttons b/c when the baby fell asleep taking it off was much easier (and quieter) than Velcro.  We’ll see!

Baby Time!

Published by starknits under Uncategorized Edit This

Sunday we went to a baby shower.  I knit up this clever little hat for the baby.  I was lucky that I’d started Friday night at Knitting Night Out, to show how to knit magic loop style. I used my fave go to baby knit hat. Designed by my sister, Jessica aka Naturally Knitty. The pattern is her Baby Pixy Hat . (rav link) It’s a free download. This hat is what I came up with. I used Mission Falls 1824 wool. It’s super wash so superb for a baby.  The momma and daddy of the new baby loved it. So i’m happy! I hope it fits him when he arrives (any day now)

Today I started another hat today. With some yarn I found at walmart. i’m doing the girl version as the baby (hopefully born today)  will be a girl. I hope to have it finished by Thursday. I’m not really worried b/c the pattern is a quick knit.

off to knit!

a recipe for you!

Published by starknits under recipes Edit This

So the other day I found a great recipe for Mexican Lasagna on the At home with the Farmer’s wife blog. Though I changed things up a bit. You can def follow her recipe I’m going to share my changes to the recipe and let you decide what version to use.

I adjusted mine a bit for a 9×13 pan. and added some more yumminess.

Ingredients:

12 whole wheat tortillas

2 (small) cans of chopped green chilis

1 can of enchilada sauce

2 cans of re-fried beans (i used low fat)

2 packages of taco seasoning

2 cloves of garlic

1 package of cream cheese (softened)

1 container (16 oz) of sour cream.

small amount of oil for frying.

2 lbs of ground hamburger (i used ground turkey)

12-16 oz of sharp cheddar cheese grated

extra sour cream and salsa for on top!

Directions:

Brown meat in pan and add 1 pack of taco seasoning and mix to directions on the package.  In another  skillet put the oil and crisp up the tortillas.  place them on plate to cool. Place sour cream and cream cheese in a bowl. Add to that the other taco seasoning packet and the garlic (grated, pressed or finely chopped) Mix together thoroughly and set aside for later. Put 1/2 the can of enchilada sauce in the bottom of your pan, spread evenly. Top with 3 tortillas. (rip one of them to fit the pan) Next layer is 1/2 of meat and spread one can of green chilis over the meat.  3 more tortillas. Topped with the sour cream mixture. Spread the re-fried beans on top (it gets a smooshed together but that’s ok) Sprinkle  cheddar cheese on top. 3 more tortillas. Add the last of the meat and top it off with the last 3 tortillas. spread the last 1/2 of the enchilada sauce on top of the tortillas and bake at 350 degrees  for 30-35 min. the last 5-10 min top with rest of cheese till nice and bubbley.

cut and serve topped with some salsa and sour cream. ENJOY!

Busy Busy!

Published by starknits under Uncategorized Edit This

I have been busy lately. I know, I know that’s not a good excuse though for not writing.  This past week I sewed some pants for the Bead. I sewed some patches on them so that they wouldn’t all look the same. I also did different pockets for the pants. Not to mention the patches are just so freakin’ cute! I found this shiny jeans material and some corduroy material at walmart for pretty cheap so it didn’t cost too much. I just realized when I changed her clothes that she didn’t have too many pants and that is something I can take care of.

also we had her 4th Birthday! At her b-day we had a pinata an played pin the tail on the donkey. The kiddos had fun! The bead got some stuff that she really wanted, like the baby Alive doll that Learns to potty, a bike, some littlest pet shop toys and a laptop coloring desk. She’s loving it all. In fact she’s playing with the coloring stuff now.. got keep an eye out she doesn’t migrate to the walls…. SIGH.

Sewing

Published by starknits under crafts, random things Edit This

Today I brought out the bead’s 4T clothes. Well really they were the bub’s and some from a friend’s daughter. But it was a sad time b/c The bead’s outgrown her 3T clothes and her pants were all getting too short. I found that most of the 4T clothes were skirts or dresses. So I made some jeans to make them different I added a patch to one and used different pockets. I will probably make some more pants for her tomorrow or so.

I’m tempted to make some purses or something also while I have the sewing machine out. But I can’t get too involved (read: I can’t get the fabric out and all over the place like normal)  the Bead’s birthday party is Sat….

Another FO

I’ve finished my cabled stocking. I’m not sure what to call it. I have it blocking now. I’ll be writing up the pattern shortly. I’ve got to get my computer up and running. UGH this is when I wish I knew more about computers.

Now that i’ve finished this stocking I’ve got some extra yarn I think i’m going to be making some Small sweater ornaments and sock ornaments. There are tons of them on Ravelry! Here’s two different Sweater patterns and one small sock pattern. The first sweater one I think you may have to register for a newsletter to get the pattern. The other one is free.

anyways enjoy!

Mail!

Published by starknits under random things Edit This

I got a package in the mail today! It was the bracelet I ordered from etsy. I got it from pants design. I ordered it b/c it was one of the only ones on etsy that actually used wood for the wolf. Along with it I got a corner bookmark. on one side is edward and the other jacob. It’s great. I put it in the book i’m reading right now. The bracelet is on my wrist. I should make something for my shop that is twilight related…. hmmm I’ll have to think about it.

Tonight ET tonight is showing a new Twilight trailer. I’m going to be working so I hope that some computer savey person can upload it to You Tube quickly so I can see it. my VCR is not working at the moment and I don’t have DVR. I’ll have to tell my babysitter to watch it for me. LOL Yes i’m totally obsessed

Almost a sweater

Published by starknits under knitting Edit This

I’m about 3/4ths the way done with my Tilted Duster . I love this pattern and the yarn! Berroco Peruvia it’s super soft and beautiful. The brown i’m sooo in love with. (btw those links are ravelry links) my LYS has the Berroco Peruvia for sale it’s just lovely to look at and also pet!  If you’re in the area you should stop in and see it and maybe take some home with you.

I think everyone should make a sweater with this yarn!

I’m almost done with my cabled stocking, I got more yarn so I don’t run out. With the extra yarn i’m going to make a few sweater ornaments for the shop.  That should be a lot of fun!  Not to mention something small and quick to get the shop in the mood for Christmas! well not the shop really but the knitters!

It’s all about the knitters people!

I think better in charts/graphs

Published by starknits under knitting Edit This

I started a stocking last year. (are we seeing a pattern here?) I was (and still am) writing the pattern up. I had to make a chart to figure it out b/c writing it out was getting really annoying. (Not to mention it was kinda hard to understand coming back after a year that is.)  I’ve just turned the heel and I’m running out of yarn. I’ve got to buy some more yarn so that I can finish it.  Hopefully I can find the same dye lot. It just seems like things are working against me.

I found the best pattern in the fall ‘08 of Vouge Knitting and I can’t find the magazine anywhere!  (i was looking at a friend’s mag.) I have this 3 pattern rule for magazines and books so I don’t buy them outright. (meaning I have to find 3 or more patterns in the book that I want to make before I buy)  so the magazine has like 5 things (probably more)  i’d knit. But one pattern #28 if you have it. I just have to knit, like i can’t get it out of my mind! i’m obsessed with it.

ok i’m done

More knitting!

Published by starknits under knitting Edit This

so I’ve been knitting, (like that’s not stating the obvious) and I finished my 1st (of 2) stockings. I’ve started on the 2nd one already. It’s going to look different though. I took pix of the stocking from both sides, so what do you think?  I still have to wash it but i’m waiting for the 2nd one to be done before I do that.

I’m hoping the lady i’m making these stockings for will like them.  I always get nervous.

This is good b/c i’ve got my tilted duster that I’m still working on and I’ve still got a few projects to finish or really start christmas presents. I’m pondering making the girls some Harry Potter sweaters for christmas.  I know I need to make the bub a sweater since she really needs one. Not to mention I made the bead a sweater last year and said i’d make one for the bub. so it’s about time for me to make her one don’t you think?
