Pacman mittens

Published by starknits under knitting Edit This

a very late Christmas present for my younger brother. I made a pac man mitten and a ghost mitten with a power pellet I-cord to connect them. the mitten tops fold down so that he can grip things while snowboarding and the like. (Those are my husband’s hands modeling the mittens for me. ) I use caron simply soft for these mittens. 1 so they would be cheap to make. 2 so they would be machine washable and 3. so they would be super “soft”

after washing they really softened up. I almost kept them for myself. LOL but my bro would KILL me for making him wait any longer. He was so upset that I didn’t get them done for him by Christmas. mostly it was b/c I tried a few different things and got frustrated and had to walk away. And i’m a HUGE procrastinator so the I-cord took longer than the mittens themselves. LOL i’m a dork I know!

Stockings

Published by starknits under knitting Edit This

So it’s beginning to look like Christmas here! I’ve started 1 of 2 stockings i’m making for a lady at my church. She wants me to make one for her DIL and one for her grandson. (the newest additions to the family) I’m copying her original stockings and adding some elements of my own.  I’m a bit further on the stocking now but i haven’t uploaded the photo to flickr yet. when i’m making something for someone else i always get so worried that they won’t like them.. ARUGH!

But before i could start these stockings I had to finish the pac man mittens (ravelry link)  i’d been working on since last Christmas.  Which I did and I sent them to my brother this morning. I’m really hoping he like them.   anyways off to knit

worth thinking about….

Published by starknits under random things Edit This

I found this video on another blog and thought it was interesting and worth watching. The blog I found it on is Mommy Life , if you’d like to go check out what she has to say. I’m undecided for the most part but I am watching and looking at what is going on so I can make an informed decision. (I’m sure everyone is as well) I don’t know about you but I get a sick feeling in my stomach when I think about this whole mess. I guess i’m just anxious to see how it all plays out. Anyways take the 10 min to watch this video and ponder what it says…

if the video doesn’t work here’s the link

two movies and my thoughts.

Published by starknits under random things Edit This

Yesterday I rented Sex and the City the movie , and Leatherheads . I wanted to see both of them for different reasons.

Leatherheads, my DH wanted to see so we watched it together.  As is custom he fell asleep. Not a problem this movie was fun. It was set in 1925 and the “start” of Pro Football. The movie was pretty cute I was giggling a lot.  It was good clean fun and I loved the hats! I did kinda zone out a bit b/c it was all football and the start of all the regulations etc.  so if you’re board go a head and rent it. George Clooney isn’t bad to look at!

Sex and the City. I loved the movie! it was just what I needed. It made me laugh and cry and just “closed” the story of the girls. The movie is all about relationships (though there was a little too much boob for me.. but hey the show was like that too) I really liked the movie. But if you never liked the show you’d probably  not like the movie. It did make me sad and wish I had a group of friends who I could go out to eat with once a week. or even just get coffee with or talk on the phone with. Ya know someone you can count on. don’t get me wrong i have some great gal friends but none of them live near enough to get together weekly with. I miss that.

anyways those are my thoughts….

Books

Published by starknits under random things Edit This

It’s not very often that I get wrapped up in a good book. I do read a lot but what I mean is it’s not often that I read a book that I really get into and absolutely LOVE the characters.  The HP series I loved and I really enjoyed and I loved finding out how it all played out. I just read the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer and fell in love with the books. She wrote them very well and I could feel what they were feeling. I really could relate to what Bella was feeling. (if you take out the vampire part that is LOL) I had listened to the 1st book on CD from the library. The library didn’t have the 2nd one and I was going to borrow it from my babysitter/friend. But I couldn’t wait I was already aching to find out what happened and in a split moment while at Walmart (it’s a dangerous store i tell you) I bought the whole series. (4 books) . That was Tuesday and last night I finished Breaking Dawn.  Now that i’m done and I know what happens i’m going to go back and re-read them much slower now. Actually I may actually read Twilight (1st book) and then Listen to New Moon and Eclipse on CD-book from the library, and since Breaking Dawn isn’t on cd-book yet I’ll re-read that one. I’m so excited. I loved this love story. I’d love to discuss it!

I won?

Published by starknits under random things Edit This

Remember when I entered in the Blog the Recession ? I mainly entered b/c I really liked that by clicking over and reading blogs  I would be helping other bloggers earn money. I never thought I would win something. Well I did! I won a Pak Nak ! They’re cool critters and decorations for your backpack, lunch box, computer, mirror, locker and whatever else you’d like to stick them too.  over at the website is a gallery to see different ways they’re used.  It’s really cool and there are a bunch to choose from. It was really hard for me to decide. The stars on the back of this cute turtle was the clincher for me. Not  to mention I think he’s cute. Now i’m trying to figure out where to put him I’m debating btwn my computer (which would enjoy me each time i used it and maybe my family) Or my Bible cover (which would enjoy me each time I use it and other people when i’m at church etc.)

what are your thoughts?

Two cuties

My youngest daughter has a habit of twisting her hair into knots. Only when she’s tired and trying to go to sleep. I’ve tried and tried to get her to stop. For a while she did. But lately she’s been doing it again. Well yesterday I had to cut out a huge one right in the middle of her forehead. So to cover the oh so short hair I had to give her bangs. But now that I look at her I think why didn’t she have them earlier. They look really cute. This Saturday is the Bubs  birthday party. we’re just having a few friends and family over for the party. But she’s allowed to have a friend sleep over. The first girl she asked wasn’t allowed so she’s going to ask another girl tomorrow. Hopefully she’ll be allowed to sleep over. I’m planning on getting some nail polish and girly things from the dollar store for them to use for the sleepover. We’re also going to get some take and bake pizzas from a local Italian market. They’re the best (says my DH), a friend of mine is making the cake. And the theme of the party is…. Hanna Montana. I’m sure you could’ve guesses. She’s turning 9 after all.

A walk

Today we went on a walk. the girls wanted to ride their bikes. Not a problem. Except my DH did this most of the way for the bead. She’s still learning how to pedal. We ended it with a fun time at the park. The girls just love it when their dad is home and doesn’t have to work on the weekends. I enjoy it too. (insert smile here) Tomorrow we’re going to some friends to watch the Steeler’s game. Hopefully they win. We’ll see tomorrow. It’s goingto be a bit weird b/c I just started a new diet so i’ve made my lunch to take with me. I hope it’s not rude.

progress

Published by starknits under knitting Edit This

Last year a bit before Christmas I started a pair of mittens for my brother. I didn’t finish them in time so I told him I’d finish before next Christmas.  (he was very upset btw) The problem was I started them about 3 times and got frustrated and put them down for quite a while. I picked them up again this summer and finished all but the i-cord. Which I started the other day and now i’m almost finished. I am now thinking about Christmas presents for this year. It’s a never ending cycle. But it’s one that I do enjoy. I’m sure all of us crafters love it.
