Finished bag!

So I finished my bag the other day. (I’ve just been really busy so I didn’t have time to post) I really like it! i’ve been using it a ton. I used it on Thursday to bring in some veggies from the garden. And of Friday I used it for the books I got from the library. Today I used it to carry my bible, water and other things as I was at church. I modified the Elisa’s Nest Tote (rav link) a bit by giving it a rectangle bottom and knitting it in the round and then at the top giving it one handle. It stretches sooo much and is so versatile. I told my DH that it’s probably my most fave bag of all the bags I’ve made. There’s a million different patterns that are similar on Ravelry. I would’ve completed it sooner had I worked on it.. LOL that’s my problem I guess I have so many projects going on at one time that I get easily distracted. I also get board fast so that’s another reason I have so many projects. to keep me on my toes I guess. I know i’m not the only one who does that. I’ve got some socks to finish.

Blooming

Published by starknits under random things Edit This

Finally my sunflowers have bloomed. They’re super tall, I’d say about 8 ft or so. Next year I plan on planting some all the way up and down the fence. My neighbor came out and was joking with me. She thanked me for planting the flowers for her (they face her house) and she also offered to let me over when I wanted to see them. LOL I snapped an  up close, well sort of. It’s as close as I could get being that they’re over my head. You can kinda see the bee with the pollen on it’s leg. (look closely)  Today it’s raining so i’m relieved of watering duty for the time being. I’m still on a reading kick. Lately i’ve been reading a few of the Amelia Peabody mysteries by Elizabeth Peters. They are about  and archaeology and very interesting. I have to go the library tomorrow to pick up a few more of the books since I’m done with the ones i’m reading. How about you? reading anything good?

Only a week!

Published by starknits under knitting Edit This

A while ago, I signed up over at Raverly for a Secret Prayer Sock Swap. The first of September is the pre-decided date to send out our finished socks. It’s getting close and i’ve got about 2 inches or so to go. I’m not worried, though. I know i’ll get it done. The socks were started (like on the toe) then never really worked on so when the SPSS started I figured the colors were what my partner likes. So I re-started them for my partner. (i hope she likes them) The pattern is one I’ve written up and have my Sister testing it now. You can watch my Ravelry Store for the pattern if you like what you see. It should be with in the month of Sept I hope! So I guess the knitting bug has caught me again! YIPIEE!

some proof.

Published by starknits under knitting, momma talk Edit This

I’ve finally kicked my non knitting thing and started knitting again. I’m almost done with the elisa nest tote. YEAH! that’s just one more thing i can check of my list. see why it’s good to have lists? It motivates me at least.  I plan on using this tote for groceries and anything else I want to carry around. Here’s a little convo I had with the bead today about it. (remember she’s 3 so it’s in a really small voice)

the bead “momma whatcha makin?”

me ” a bag”

bead “what for?”

me “to carry groceries and stuff”

bead “oh, well when are you going to make me a bag?”

me “maybe for Christmas or your birthday”

bead “ok will Santa bring me it?”

me…. “no i’ll make it for you!”

bead “well winter is when Santa comes you know!”

me “i know”

Books

I’ve been reading  a lot lately. I recently read the Artemis Fowl series. and then the last 2 books from the “lost history books” by Ted Dekker. Also I finally read “The Friday Night Knitting Club”. It was really good even though it has a sad ending. It has a pattern and a recipe in the back. I like books that have a little something extra for you. Today I took the girls to the library and picked myself up some mystery books. I’m about halfway through one already.

I’m not sure what’s up with me but i’ve just not been in the knitting/crochet/sewing mood. I’ve just wanted to read and read and read. But really my fingers miss the knitting. Not to mention that I feel rather lazy just sitting (really i carry the book around and read while i’m waiting for things) around reading all the time. I know my DH is annoyed by it.  But it could be that he’s jealous too.

Though i’ve been reading I’ve also been on the internet a lot just reading really. Which is why i’ve not posted. I guess i’m in a whole not talking much introspection type of mood lately.  While reading I found this great blog with different sewing tutorials. Go ahead and check it out .  I thought I would share so that this post wouldn’t be too boring.

Sunflowers

Published by starknits under random things Edit This

I’m still waiting for my sunflowers to bloom. I had the girls stand in front of them to snap a photo. (they are so silly!) The sunflowers are sooo tall now! They’re even taller than me. I can’t wait to see them bloom. I hope it won’t take too much longer. I guess I got a late start with my garden and such. Hopefully it won’t get too cold too fast this year. Next year I plan on planting more sunflowers. I think i’m going to start them indoors b/c the pesky squirrels and rabbits ate the seeds before they sprouted. I’m also waiting for most of my tomatoes to turn. but they’re Finally getting there! Like I said my garden is a bit late this year… well there’s always next year.

Baseball?

So my DH just loves baseball. Me? I don’t mind it too much. Yesterday we went to a AAABA game at a park near us. The game wasn’t really something the girls were into so they amused themselves by rolling down the hill. Do you remember doing that as a kid. It was fun to watch them giggling and laughing as they tumbled. I tried to take a photo of them but they were rolling in opposite directions so I only got their feet. But I really liked how the photo looked so I kept it. I just love digital cameras, you can snap away with out worrying if the photo is going to turn out! I usually delete half and then save some and upload most to Flickr . I figure that way my family can see the photos and if anything ever happens (knock on wood) to my computer I have the photos still. and Getting comments on photos, blogs anything really is super fun! don’t you think?

Green

Green is one of my favorite colors. Maybe that’s why enjoy gardening so much. well that and the fun of seeing things grow and getting the “fruits” of your labor. Not to mention not having to run to the store for a salad or tomato or cucumber. I snapped this photo earlier this week. It’s almost a sunflower. I thought it looked really cool. esp b/c i had to hold the camera up to take the photo. The sunflowers are just a tad bit above my head. out of the two packs of seeds we planted only 2 lonely flowers are growing. I think the squirrels and rabbits had a few snacks. GRR! That is why my garden is inside a fence. You can visit my Flickr Garden Set to see more photos of my garden. (if you’re interested that is)
I’m already planning next year’s garden. I’m going to tweek it just a bit and start the seeds inside earlier next year. we’ll see how it works!

You can go ahead and enter too, just click the link.  I’m getting that itching again. ya know the Itch to sew? we’ll see what I can create later on this week!
